Massachusetts Mandatory Liquor Liability Policy Limits
In Massachusetts, liquor liability insurance is required by law for businesses that serve or sell liquor to have liquor liability coverage with minimum limits of $250,000/$500,000. We recognize the risk businesses in the hospitality industry face for liquor-related assault and battery claims. Our carrier(s) can offer Assault & Battery coverage by endorsement for full limits and several sub-limit options to provide you with the coverage you need. We can also offer the option to add an additional insured to the policy.
Discounts to policyholders are available that meet the requirements for specialized training programs. Some of these programs include alcohol-awareness training, use of age verification systems, and security training programs. Clients who qualify for preferred liquor rates are eligible for substantially reduced premiums with additional savings for establishments that purchase package policies and/or general liability and liquor liability coverage. Discounts are also available for those insured who are members of their state restaurant association.
Comprehensive liquor liability insurance can cover a wide range of risks as listed above, while also including coverage for breakage and spoilage.
A Host Liquor Liability Policy is Different
Host liquor liability insurance which is often included in your general liability policy is different from liquor liability insurance. Host liquor liability insures businesses that don’t sell alcohol but serve it at an event. For example, if your company is having a holiday event where they are allowing alcohol to be consumed, host liquor liability insurance can protect them from damages that could occur from an intoxicated employee.
